EDIT: Also, I think it's important to mention now before I forget again,
Most of the prologue was based off of one of the Outlaw Star episode-intro narrations.
I added onto it and edited it, but it's not my complete original idea.

Thanks!
This is sort of going to be a collection of loosely-connected stories.
I'm still not sure what all I'm going to do with it XS
Onto Chapter 1!
~ ~ ~
There are many stories regarding the mysterious "Galactic Leyline." It has been sought by countless researchers and archaeologists, before being dismissed as little more than a pipe dream to those who wish to understand the mysteries of how Galactic sciences became so advanced in such an unnaturally short time. However, the Ctarl-Ctarl and the Lorgan races still secretly pursue the knowledge and wealth of this unknowable treasure, while the Kei Pirates have devoted immense funds and manpower to uncovering its location. No one can lay claim to truly understanding the Galactic Leyline and its possible origins, but what is known for sure is that - Should it truly exist, and should the stories be true - Whosoever finds it will have solved a riddle that has baffled scientists for centuries.

On the Blue Heaven space station, a small, elegant ship came to dock in one of its more secluded ports. At first mystified at the ship's design, mechanics soon got to work doing whatever they could to inspect it for damage. On the side opened up a circular doorway, allowing a certain fellow of long black hair to step out.
Striding up to Zev Raregroove, a Corbanite in his full environmental suit hummed in thought. "Pretty cool ship you've got there," he said in a calm voice. "The name's Gurruno, I own this space station here. We've found some damage with your ship that's going to take quite a while to fix - The parts on these things are cool and all, but they're a pain in the ass to find replacements for. Is it cool by you to take a look around the restaurants and such while we get to work on this baby?" He noted the pink-skinned, horned girl to follow, her tail swishing aggravatedly; he didn't say a word, though.
Zev gave a calm smile. "Sure," he said, "That's fine by me. My friend and I could use a bite to eat, anyway." As he walked away with Namah following close behind, he said over his shoulder, "Give me a rundown on the price when we get back, okay, Gurruno?" As the short alien life form waved in confirmation, Zev took a look around. After exiting the dock, he and Namah had found themselves in some kind of contained city. High above, the massive dome of phenomenally reinforced polycarbonate allowed them to see the endless stars beyond, all aglow in their tiny pinpricks. On the floor of the station, however, a miniature city had been built to attend to the needs of any visitors - Restaurants, casinos, convenience stores, just about everything in a regular rest-stop town.
After taking it all in, Namah turned her luminescent green orbs up to Zev. "You know," she said evenly, "I get the worst feeling about being here. I think we should try to keep out of the main 'city' until the ship's - ...Fixed..." She gave an exasperated sigh - The much taller young man was already making his way towards some manner of casino. "It would be nice if he ever listened to me." Shrugging, she followed him in.
Neither of them noticed the blue eyes watching from beneath a hood. Some figure across the street wearing a long, hooded mantle gave a low growl. Crossing the street, they made their way into an alleyway.

When Zev and Namah finally emerged, the former sobbing dejectedly at the two lonely white cards with green stripes in his hand, nearly all of the shops had closed. Only a few casinos and restaurants remained open, and the vast majority of visitors to the station had gone to bed. Seemingly alone now, Zev and Namah turned into the next alley to try and find a quick way to a cheap restaurant.
They certainly weren't ready for a hooded figure to block their way. "I hope you'll make this all easy on yourself,
Zev Raregroove," she said lowly, "And tell me everything you know about the Galactic Leyline!" At the flat stares she got, the young woman seethed and ripped her hood off. Ears flicking at their sudden liberation from the mantle's hood, she got into a combat stance. "I can just beat it out of you!!" Snarling, Aisha's fangs grew in size, and with a crackling of energy, her nails grew into claws. "Anything you want to say, Raregroove!!?" She got down on all fours, grinning savagely and ready to pounce.
Watching her a few moments longer with wide-open eyes, Zev and Namah said nothing. With one finger raised, Zev prepared to say something in response. At last, he delivered his message to her with a single word: "NOPE." He and Namah turned on their heels in unison and ran like hell. Stunned, Aisha stared after them as she returned to normal.
"H-HEY, YOU JERKS!!" She hurriedly scooped up her mantle and ran after them.
