    More To Be Added~

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

    They say a bird
    Trapped in a cage
    Will at first display
    A caustic rage.

    Fighting, thrashing,
    Wroth with her prison;
    Jabbing out past the bars
    Through every gap and division.

    Soon after, however,
    She becomes filled with sorrow.
    Knowing she will not fly
    At any tomorrow...

    Her wings droop,
    Her colors seem to grey;
    Her actions grow slower,
    Day by dark, dark day.

    The bird's song has stopped,
She's a sad sight to see,
    But I do honestly believe
    She will sing to me.

    I truly believe
    She'll sing to me...

    ~ ~ ~

    Give a little girl
    A most precious doll,
    Cherished most of all,
    Then her smile will curl.

    Give a little boy
    A teddy bear,
    And tussle his hair,
Then he'll light up with joy.

    No need to ask me;
    The affection for toys
    From girls and boys
    Is easy to see.

Put a toy in their hand,
    Be so kind,
    And you will find
    You give them a friend.

    A toy is a thing
    So pure, so benevolent;
    It can be heaven-sent
And can make the heart sing.

Such a gift can heal pain
    In a child's broken heart;
It's not so hard to do your part
    To help them smile again.

    ~ ~ ~

    O noble hero
    O noble hero
They see how proudly you stand
Atop the crest of the grassy rise
    Salvation in your passion-lit eyes
The figure you strike is so grand

Yet I stand at your back
Yet I stand at your back
And like the moon without a single star
    Marring your muscled, undirtied frame
Your utmost secret; your concealed shame
I see the start of the curve of a scar

    Yes, that I know
    Yes, that I know
You like to pretend that none will reveal
You adjust the place of your armor most prized
You hide the look of fear and shame in your eyes
And put on a grin to cement your seal

    But it shall not last
    But it shall not last
At that time, you were far less keen
But should they discover your wound of retreat
And learn how you fled with feet so fleet
Wouldn't your shield lose its sheen?

    Ignorance is bliss
    Ignorance is bliss
But you know that your shame
Would leave none else to blame
    And darkness would leave you
    Her lasting kiss

Um.... Zev told me to put it here for "inspection." Please forgive my attempt at love poetry. Not that its bad, it just that any artist/writer always criticizes their work.

    An Ode to Love

    Love, the unconquerable drug
That which snares the body, mind, and soul
    Drives men mad
Crazy fanatics, only thirsting for more
    Love, with your bitter-sweet taste
You have eluded me far too much
Come, I Say! Let us rebel
From the bitter part of love
That which most experience for too long
    Eros, lend me your arrows!
    Cupid, lend me your bow!
For I refuse the bitter taste of love
I wish to take the sweet feeling
    Of that unconquerable drug…

    So I ask thee
    You of the Brilliant Mind
    You of the Amazing Soul
You of the (and forgive my boldness!) Glorious Body
Won’t you join me in my rebellion?
    Won’t you be my Valentine?

    Hmmm...

    I rather like it.

You seem to have a very strong, pronounced, confident "voice" in the poem.

What I mean is, you have an almost proud way of stating your poetry's verse. I'd call it a "Declaring" voice.

As opposed to my style, which I'd call maybe a..."Serenading" voice. I'm usually rather indirect and neutral. Yours is more direct and to the point.

I personally like yours...May I ask your opinion on my poems above?

    Thankshya. ^3^

The first poem displays an awesome rhyme scheme, and evokes the theme of being trapped, along with some hope of the future.

    Thanks.

I think I'll try to stick to a rhyme scheme more like that in the future...

...Thanks again for your input, Klak.

I've decided to take a crack at this again.

This poem is based on Homestuck, and may have some credence to the RPG, eventually.

    The Thorns of Oglogoth

    ~ ~ ~

    The streets lie shadowed
    And wreathed in gloom,
    Untouched by the tender
    Kiss of the moon.

    I hold the Thorns
    So cautious, so loose,
    As the shadows draw nigh:
    An ephemeral noose.

To my left I hear a sigh
In the city's brisk night air,
But when I lash out with a hiss
I find that nothing is there.

    From within the vacant windows
    I know that frightened souls peer;
Oh, I can only imagine what they'd do
If they knew my own immense fear.

    My frayed nerves cause me
    To shiver and quake,
    My anxiety quickly grows
    Too much to take.

Still I know I am hardly
    Alone in my endeavour;
    I beseech the Deep One,
    "Discard from me my terror."

    To my surprise, he complies
    With my nigh-whispered plea,
And as my fear is immolated
    T'is replaced with mad glee.

Rising on wings of the fevered
    Pulse of my forsaken heart,
I rise above the Obsidian Towers
    As my Thorns rend them apart;
The time has at last arrived
    To begin my terrible lark.

I actually wrote this at school. Well my last one too. Just roll with it.

    ~ ~ ~

    What is a God?
    a god has a domain
    over which they rule
    of which they know all

    a god is wise
    a god is pure
    or so they should be
    looking out on Creation

    i am not Wise
    nor am i Pure
    i go to the river
    to be Washed Clean

    can i be god
    of the Crumbled Bricks?
    of the Tangled Weeds
    that tickle my eyes?

with their mussed fur, the stray cats
shall be my council of seraphim
    i can have cherubic choirs
    in the frogs and crickets

    A Downtrodden God
    who is foolish, impure
    and depends on the river
    to be Washed Clean

    So long to respond. T^T

Sorry Klak. And I was having serious feels at the time. I think.

    ...

I just now came up with this poem. Let us see:

    ~ ~ ~

Cut the demons out of my soul
Make me bleed, make me whole

I cannot leave my life just yet
So quickly act, before the wager is set

I know I have so much love to give
So kill me, now, so I may begin to live

    Hack
    Stab
    Rip
    Slash

My soul, from hatred, has been set free
So many possibilities set before me

I'm soon to return, to stand by your side
And follow beside you, stride by stride

Please be patient, my dear, true friend
And every day to me, a prayer send.

    I remember a time
When you were a friend of mine
We amounted to nothing of worth
But the thing we had was divine
You made me think of it as not such a curse
To walk, aimless, across the Earth

    I think back to when
    We told quiet jokes
    Way, way back then,
    We were quiet blokes

    What made us change?
    Made us so estranged?
    Did I disgrace you?
    Was I far too deranged
To be a friend to you
    Though my heart was true?

    You were never at fault
For a friend, I never yearned
But after years at the waltz
I'd have thought I'd have learned

    We're both worth nothing
    Both our futures hold nothing
But after this quarrel, we agree
When I have you, and you have me,
We can forever be happy with nothing.

    What was it then
    That caused me such pain
Caused me to weep and moan
Caused me to beg for death?
    I do not remember.

    I remember being beaten
I remember, I once flew above the stars
    Then I fell

It hurt so much, so very, very much
    All my bones broken
    My body bruised and battered
    My eyes swollen shut
    My chest feverish and tight,
    Every breath a painful labor
As I lay on the pavement

    But You rescued me
    In your long, black dress
    And your leather sandals
    With gentle, slender fingers
    You undid the clasps
    On my broken mortal body
    And let my ghost free

    I flew again
    Above the sidewalks and skyscrapers
Above the moon and the stars
    And together, I danced
    With You.

    Interesting... 8 <

Now, the second of the next ones is still a work in progress,

So keep that in mind as you read.

    ~ ~ ~

An altar of steel and wires
In a deep temple, dark and dank
A sallow hand turns a crank
And a metal child wakes, born of violent desires
By human hands, and hellish fires

A wheel sparks and scratches and turns
As it descends from the ceiling above:
Bringing life to a mad cretin, possessed of
Hands that throttle, a glare that burns,
And a heart that is forlorn of love.

In his deathly, vile rasp so grim
Her master bids his child to rise
And with a malign grin so very thin
She hoists herself up from her den
And fixes him on those awful eyes.

A scratchy voice, metal scraping on stone
She squawks her creator's name in glee
It settles into a chant, a static drone
And did the master know better, he would see
That his vulnerable body made his monster -
    - Excited down to her bones.

    ~ ~ ~

A girl of brown hair, in pigtails
Settles into a sleep so deep
And as her soul rests in mysterious hands to keep
Her mind is shrouded in a hoary veil
That blurs her worlds in a mess so sweet

    Diving, driven down into void
The darkness is divided by neon figures
Dancing with a fervor undaunted by ages
To a song that is old as dreams themselves -
    Ancient kings, their splendors etched
    In centuries of blood and bone;
Wild and fey monkeys, their fangs
    Bared in a smile of terror and glee;
    Winding, soaring serpents,
    Plumed in the colors of mystery;
    And great, roaring jaguars,
Spotted with stars yet to burn.

At the bottom appears a door,
Which the girl opens to a breath of cold
As snowflakes are born on the wind o'er
    The weathered, notched threshold

Through she takes a joyful bound
Unto a field of gleaming snow
Where nary a thing makes one sound
    'Neath the sky's gray glow.

    Ahead she forges, brave
    In a stubborn, headlong motion
Until she's gently sprayed by a wave
Of a peaceful, pale pink ocean.

    Undaunted by the expanse
Of pink waves and foam, and slate gray skies
Before herself, she cups her hands
    And gently closes her eyes...
