    Adventurer's tales Empty Adventurer's tales

Post by SHROOM Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:30 am

These are basically supposed to be extracts from some sort of log that an adventurer has kept during his travels.

These things aren't in order, by the way. And there's not supposed to be any way of telling the order anyways. Mostly because I'll be writing about what I feel like.

    Here's the first one:

"I remember the beast so clearly, the image in my head so sharp. I remember the unforgiving black claws that tore into the dry ground like it was the softest sand. I remember the eyes the most. Black, staring eyes. With a circle of silver in the middle. Every time it looked at something, it seemed to be for an eternity, before you come back to reality and realize that it was only a second.

The creature's body was long like a serpent, its feathers like black jewels, glistening in the moonlight. It moved so fast that my eyes could barely keep up with the blur of black feather and claw. The magnificently powerful body twisted and turned in different ways, while being constantly thrown forward by powerful clawed feet- I couldn't tell how many.

The movements of this creature seemed in itself hypnotic, but the feelings set in the most when I caught a glimpse of its face. I cannot describe its face to you any more than saying that it contained a great deal of intelligence, while still retaining the air of proud beast. The large beak opened and closed rhythmically, and I felt my organs tremble as it produced a sound too low for me to hear.

As for the size of the thing, it's body was at least as thick as an oak. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I was terrified. Absolutely terrified."

    Haha nice.
"organs tremble" is somehow both hilarious and evocative.

This seems to be an interesting piece, and I look forward to seeing it's continuation.
And as stated previously, the 'Organs tremble' line got me.

It was about quarter past two when I took a stroll out of the cabin to admire the amazing views of the forest clearings. Or was it midday? Alas, I cannot remember, for even now the memory of the event I am about to describe becomes fainter.

I do, however, remember walking into a particularly gorgeous forest clearing. The brilliantly green dew-encrusted grass being complimented by little flowers of white, yellow and red. I picked some of these curiously pretty little flowers and admired it's small, delicate beauty.

Yes. I remember more clearly now. The place was so brilliant that I intended to stay for a while more, but as I made my way to the middle of the clearing, my head began to ache. First just a little, but then so much that it was hard to focus on anything at all.

Leaves started to fall from the surrounding trees. Green, healthy, shining leaves. I had to wonder why I didn't even catch a glance of any animals taking advantage of trees with leaves this wonderful. My vision blurred as the leaves began to move along the ground. “A strange wind”, I thought.

    I thought wrong.

The leaves moved in a circle around me, as shining green dancers, constantly growing in their numbers as more friends came to join them. The flowers parted from their roots, and joined the leaves in this movement, bouncing across the ground as they grow closer and closer.

My vision started to double. I remember something floating above the slowly approaching leaves and flowers... Something glowing. At this point I could hardly distinguish the grass from the trees. I faded out of consciousness.

What could that have been, I wonder? Ancient sorcery? I don't know.

    How interesting, indeed.

Not too happy with this one, but whatever. Here it is. : D

This is great! I'm glad you're coming back to this. 'Twas short, but effective.
